Some weddings are beautifully planned, and others are beautifully felt. Kia and Devante’s celebration at Brick & Ivey was both! The perfect mix of modern creativity, heartfelt traditions, and a whole lot of “Wait... that’s genius” moments.
A Creative, TikTok-Inspired Twist on Tradition
Kia described herself as a “Type A bride,” but in the best way. She was organized, prepared, and full of clever ideas from scratch-off favors to runway-style ceremony seating. The day had a fun, youthful energy without ever feeling overdone.
She also incorporated multiple private moments — vows, first dance, and cake cutting — that allowed the couple to hold space for just the two of them amidst the celebration.
Some of the most memorable touches were the kind of details that made guests say, “Wait, that’s so them.” The couple kicked off the reception with a playful photo dash, where guests took photos with Kia and Devante table by table, which ended up being a fun, high-energy way to capture memories and mingle. Later in the night, a surprise Waffle House food truck rolled in as the ultimate late-night snack (because who doesn’t want hash browns after dancing?). Guests left with mini succulents as favors (a sweet, sustainable keepsake!) and the couple’s cake was topped with a custom plaque featuring their initials, a simple yet striking detail that felt both personal and stylish.
Surprise Elopement Reveal + Family-First Vibes
In a major plot twist, Kia and Devante revealed during the ceremony that they’d actually eloped months before. Cue the gasps and happy tears.
And speaking of family: one of the sweetest parts of the day was watching their two-year-old son walk down the aisle with his dad. Their wedding was a celebration of marriage, but also of their family, and that intention shone through every moment.
A Playful, Personal, and Full-of-Joy Reception
This reception was all about flow — good music, good food, and good vibes. Thanks to Kia’s planning and her mom’s support day-of (she was the unofficial co-coordinator and MVP!), everything ran smoothly and joyfully.
The late-night Waffle House truck might’ve been missed by the cameras, but not by the guests. It was the kind of surprise that made the evening feel both fun and unmistakably them.
